4 Square House
Clients requested a modern open plan cast-in-place concrete house. They preferred rectangular forms and or box shapes over gables and ‘A’- frame forms. They also wanted to consider energy efficient design features and off grid measures for future integration such as solar panels.
Project constraints allowed for design process and design opportunity. dl-Design developed several Patti-diagrams, to help conceptualize the house form.
The concept result landed on a ‘four’ square plan concept with major vertical dividing walls becoming feature walls, (cast-in-place) construction. These spatial dividers separate: entry sequence, living spaces and garden spaces, creating a procession through the house.
